Tsigereda Lovegrove Presentation for Victorian Municipal Building Surveyors Group, 5 October 2023

On 5 October 2023, Lovegrove and Cotton’s Tsigereda Lovegrove presented on the topic of “Building Regulations Future Directions” to attendees of the Victorian Municipal Building Surveyors Group annual conference, at the Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort.

The presentation highlighted components of Victoria’s Building Act 1993 which have stood the test of time, namely:

  1. Mandatory insurance of key actors,
  2. Building practitioners registration,
  3. Mandatory Inspections.

It also provided for areas which may benefit from reform including:

  1. The private certification process,
  2. Performance sanctions of building surveyors,
  3. A redesigning of the National Construction Code around a risk-based building classification system.
